She might be a little too fast considering she got 4 (cough5?) attacks in before Vivi got to move

Actually, that fight is very easy. The only reason I died was extreme stupidity.

For anyone who wants to see what it's like but doesn't want to take the time to patch their file.

Here's the first fight.
And that's it for my videos.

She preforms a variable check which ends the fight on the tenth turn.

Here's a video. No 9999, because he didn't single target Thundaga, though.

To Kyou, I know exactly what you mean. The equipment stat boost thing needs work. If I can find the data and come up with a good way to change it, I will.
To scottrichardstoller, sorry, I accidentally renamed the topic.

would it be possible to make it so you gain stats on lvl up not based upon items but based upon a set amount? Just wondering if it would be possible. Or if not that then what about making so the items give stats only on equip not on lvl up. Making end game items have higher boosts of course.
I mean all else fails why not change the default stats of Freya, Quena, Aramarant, and Eiko since the other 4 you have from the very beginning. That way the other 4 aren't lagging behind. Just go with an amount that would make since compared to an average comapred to the other characters and how many points they are likely to have gained compared to that level.

Unfortunately there is a lot in this game that can't be edited cause it causes major glitches, for example HP is set at 65535 and I do believe stats are maxed at 100 not 255 like were used to. I know there are ways around this as FFVI has these same limitations that are now broken, IE enemy HP I've seen someone make a dragon with 1 million HP, and someone made a damage patch that allows damage to go to 32000. But remember VI was 17+ years ago and the code used in IX is totally different then what was used in VI altho its very similar.
VII was a step forward as we saw our first super boss with a million HP. VIII was another step forward as we saw 5 digit damage from attacks, albeit only 3 could break 9999. And for whatever reason IX was 2 steps backwards using modified snes code instead of what was being used in the previous psx games.
Be reminded I'm only talking about code and formulas here not graphical progression.
Really makes me wish i actually knew about coding lol cause I'm seriously intrigued as to what they did from snes days to current ps3 platform.

^This. I know where the data for stat increases is stored, but I haven't been able to test it and see if it can be properly and effectively altered without inducing digital horrors. FFIX is more difficult to modify than any other PSX game I know of, save perhaps Chrono Cross (I haven't work on CC yet, but a cursor inspection yielded some parallels). Let's put it this way, if I thought anyone else would be stupid enough to make a difficulty mod of FFIX, then I would not be.
