Is anyone else tired of this bullshit? I want this game, I want to buy it. I actually want to give Capcom my money so I can play it, but this shit pisses me off. Why must I buy the game and then pay for the content on the disc? Could you imagine this shit happening in the 16 bit era? The 32 bit era? Imagine buying FF7 but then having to buy Vincent and Yuffie. We would've flipped our shit if that had happened. Or buying Mario Bros. and having to pay for Luigi so your friend could play with you.
Capcom's New Streetfighter x Tekken Has Day One DLC Which unlocks content on the disc. Yay.

I think at this point its less about people being surprised it happens and more about angry that it is still happening. And developers question why people will pirate games this is a big part of the reason. Hell they may even buy the game just to pirate the dlc that they should already have because it was already complete on launch. I mean honestly I stopped buying console games (especially fighting ones) as much due to this kind of shit. Even though I'm interested in SF X Tekken I think I will just wait for Super SF X Tekken. (we all know it will be out by christmas...

Look at Operation Rainfall. This was a millions plus movement of gamers writing and making videos and addressing Nintendo on twitter and facebook on why they wanted Xenoblade and the Last Story. Not making random rant videos on Youtube and saying you did your part. NBGI wised up after months of their fans posting on their wall on Facebook and Twitter to give us a solid Tales game experience. Not only did fans do that but they banded together and boycotted NGBI games no matter how good they were. As a result of these events we now have Tales of Graces f and the possibility of getting Tales of Xillia. The director of Xillia said he would love to have the game localized after seeing the huge fan support for Tales games in the US. In fact ToGf is in the top 10s 20s and 50s of most pre-ordered game in the US. That is how you get companies to realize you screwed up.
These gamers haven't hurt bad enough like some Nintendo and NBGI gamers have. But then again most of these companies laugh at Nintendo and say they need to go third party because they are weak and tired. But tell me how is that Nintendo has made it this far as a company by being pretty much the sole supporter of their console for the last 2 generations. They obviously know what to do and what not to do.

I understand exactly where you are coming from but people have complained, wrote letters, and hell this kind of stuff has even been brought up in interviews with capcom employees. I myself wrote them about what they did with umvc3 and how that pissed me off especially since I pre-ordered the game FROM THEM. Which means every dime of my money went right to them. I told them then that I have hopes that umvc3 will actually have some dlc characters like which was promised for mvc3 and that I was personally fed up with paying money for something twice for one and especially paying money for something that should have been in the game to start (spectator mode for those of you that don't know). Hell with spectator they came out day 2 of the release and said it will soon be included in a patch and there will also be a netcode update to help with lag issues that some users were experiencing. 2 patches later we have only character changes and then they announce UMvC3...
This is where I lost hope for capcom. Between the stunts with their fighting games and them abandoning series and even poking fun at the fans of such series. I.e. Megaman - example is shown in one of the stages in UMvC3 (Days of Future Past stage poster) and also the inclusion of a Megaman X suit for zero. Not to mention things such as showing a new onimusha title the revealing its going to be a BROWSER GAME.
Sigh, over the last few years a lot of bigger game companies seem to have forgotten how they used to treat the fans. Though I will give you at least Nintendo will listen, sometimes it just take a bit more screaming than it should. (example last story going to Europe and not US originally). It seems that so few companies will still listen that probably being due to I guess people are more willing to just bitch about it to one or two people and let it happen as opposed to actually trying to make something happen.
But on a cheerier note. Its my personal hope that mistwalker becomes the new squaresoft. Cuz when I first heard about last story and still even now I have to make this face.
Though I'm curious why Xseed is publishing it instead of Nintendo...

You have to understand though that NBGI is essentially a small time publisher with a fanbase built on mostly hardcore fans. What they didn't realize before is that people wanted these games, and if you were translate a game you couldn't be certain would sell copies, it basically boils down to a risk/reward assessment of "we know we have good sales in the Japanese market, but what about the NA market?". And while a protest of that sort will work with smaller publishers who cannot make the risks because they simply don't find it feasible, you have to take a look at large time publishers, like Zenimax, like Activision, and like EA. Everyone who was vocal on the internet could, as an example, boycott the next MW because they thought this one was a piece of shit. But they have access to that silent majority "casual" or "I bought it to play with my friends" gaming market where they could insure 3million sales and can tell the core base(the one's who've been around since COD2) to basically go fuck themselves. So what are our only options? To complain, and whine. These are companies. They are not your friends, and they are certainly not people whose feelings get hurt.

It just blows my mind how little gamers actually do besides complain and whine.
I think many people actively do stop supporting companies they don't like by not buying their games. Buying from the competition will force change faster than any letter, or kill the company outright. Companies go under all the time, and when the competition is as brutal as it is right now (games industry), you don't want to piss off your consumer base.

If they think that pulling this kind of shit is cool, then I certainly won't be paying full price, that is if I even buy the game.

Man, it really pains me to see that people won't buy this because of thise DLC situation. The game is several tons of fun and is honestly well worth 60 dollars. Heck, I've already spent 21+ hours on it and I've only played the game 4 times and that's pretty big for me since I rarely play games for longer than 3 hours in one sitting.
I personally think the best thing people could do is just buy the game and not the DLC. Otherwise, you're telling Capcom that you don't like their game.
(On the bright side there IS going to be free DLC too, such as more color customization options and gem packs)

I don't see how that would make much difference. It would come across that we're fine with them locking away some of the content on the disc and charging us to unlock it. That we'd buy the game even if they did that. Frankly, they're not getting any of my money, I'll just make sure I get the game second hand or something.

It just seems to make more sense to me, I guess. I mean, if your game wasn't selling, wouldn't you think the people just don't want your game? But if people are buying your game, but not the TONS of paid-DLC that you're making while they're also complaining about "Disc-Locked Content", wouldn't that speak more?
It just seems incredibly silly to me that people would rather wait months to get a great game just because the company who created the game mishandled the DLC.

Hey, I sell you a beautiful house, catch is, you are allowed to use only kitchen, toilet and small room. If you want to use rest of this house you must pay me extra for each room. Of course you are paying full price from the get go(what i mean is, you get to use 3 areas in house while you pay for let's say 10) not so bright offer, hmm?

It's not all that bad dude. There are already 43 characters in the game, lots of customization options, and a healthy amount of game modes. Not to mention pairs actually have their own intro and outtro's in Arcade mode and that the game is incredible fun.
Your analogy would have worked better if you wrote it like this:
"I sell you a beautiful house with 9 rooms, as previously advertised. Thing is, I don't tell you about a 10th room that's locked away. You can pay a little extra rent for the key to that room after you've lived there for a few months, but you don't need the room to live comfortably in the house." That's basically the situation here, since we're only missing 12 characters out of 43 and tons of content with more customization options coming in the form of free DLC.
